An adults playground, as well as that for the rich and famous, Dubai's attracted millions of visitors over the last few years and its popularity has gone sky high. Not only was its reputation drawn sky high but also its buildings. Dubai seems to feel the need to voice its grandeur and magnitude to the world after erecting the world's tallest building.

Flaunting its success maybe a little too early, Dubai has taken a devastating hit this year with the credit crunch taking hold and construction coming to a halt. Celebrities were worried as their investments were going down the pan, and who could blame them?

Things started to look on the bright side as Dubai announced the opening of Burj Khalifi, the world's tallest building, and attracted media publicity worldwide. This sparkling façade soon shifted as worries arose as to whether or not the structure was safe. Adding to the publics reservations, only weeks after its extravagant opening, the skyscraper unexpectedly closed leaving expectant visitors disappointed.

In recent months we've heard more and more bad press coming from the UAE in cases where Britons have been arrested and jailed for carrying small amounts of drugs, showing affection to one another whilst in the public eye and drinking or being drunk in public areas.

These stern laws are a massive deterrent for possible visitors as the law there is so tough, where's the fun in holidaying there? The most recent couple to be publicly exposed for indecency charges after being reported to police for kissing one another on the lips, have been charged and sentenced to a month in jail. However, the couple are making an appeal as they deny kissing on the lips, saying it was nothing more than a kiss on the cheek.

So if you're looking for a sunny summer holiday this year and are thinking of visiting Dubai, consider its flaws and the possibility of landing yourself in trouble, before booking due to its amazing prices.

If you're looking for somewhere where you can grab a quick smooch whilst walking hand in hand being close to your partner, then book holidays in Spain. Here, locals take us Brits for what we are and seem to accept our laid-back, no holds barred attitude.

So, if you're looking for a romantic break away, book cheap Gran Canaria holidays where you can relax and unwind, late Majorca deals where you can laze on your lilo or try a trip to the divine Ibiza, where you can sail around the Med for a perfect lovers escape.
